Kenny Miller: Surviving Teenage Werewolves, Puppet People and Hollywood
Published in Paperback by McFarland & Company (April, 1999)
Authors: Kenny Miller and Donald Vaughan
Average review score:

One of US who "MADE" it without losing it !
Unlike Eddie Fisher's sleazey autobiography, Ken Miller's book recalls bygone Hollywood. While he could write about the dark sides of Natalie Wood, James Dean, Sal Mineo, Orson Welles, Anthony Quinn, Cecil B. DeMille, Connie Stevens and the death of the studio system, Mr. Miller choses the high road.

Fortunately Mr. Miller discusses the craft of acting in both big budget motion pictures and cheapo fly-by-night studios in the 1970's. His behind-the-scenes stories are funny. One highlight involves the acting debut of his pet dog, Krissy.

Ken Miller presents the professional acting craft as the way it should be...not to serious and what should be a lot of fun.

This book reflects a kind soul and a nice man.

The Real Deal!
Kenny Miller has lived the Hollywood dream and writes a fascinating story of Tinseltown in its glory days. From a humble start to performances in over 22 feature films as well as steady television and musical work, Kenny is a seasoned pro who has paid his dues. Hobnobbing with the greats and near greats and having fun along the way, Miller has an insider's perspective that is a must read for anyone hoping to break into the world of entertainment. A fun read.

Kenny's a Great
Kenny is a Great guy...NOT a Hollywood phoney. I hope the book does well

Khelly's Book of Answers: A Guidebinder for the Overwhelmed and Underfunded Bride-to-Be
Published in Ring-bound by Human Being Productions, LLC (14 February, 2002)
Author: Khelly Miller

A Bride to Be's Bible
Hooray! Thank god for Khelly's Book of Answers! That might sound cheesy, but I literally don't know if could have pulled off such a seamless and fun wedding without Khelly's organizational binder system and great suggestions. The binder comes with pre-printed tabs and an explanation of how to effectively file your research materials, contracts, decor/dress inspiration tear sheets, important numbers, etc. If I hadn't had the binder, those papers would have been all over my house. Don't get me wrong, I used other books in conjunction with the binder, but whenever I found something very important, I made a copy and put it in the binder. I referred to it as my Wedding Bible.

I think my favorite thing about the book is the way Khelly writes like she is just your cool girlfriend, dishing out some tips that she thinks might help. I'm not a Kennedy, and I'm far from being a millionare, so I don't want some stuffy New York wedding planner telling me that I need flowers flown in from Thailand or my wedding will surely stink. With Khelly's wise words to inspire, I did some internet research to figure out the flowers I wanted to use, cut out pictures of my favorite bouquets from a magazine and got a crafty and talented friend to pick up the flowers from a wholesaler and put them together. They were perfect and the cost was very minimal (more money for booze at the reception...hey, it's all about priorities).

Probably the greatest reward from using Khelly's binder was that my entire wedding party was happy (you know how hard that can be) because their dresses didn't cost a fortune. They were amazing finds from the LA garment district, lovely and inexpensive.

I could go on and on, and pretty much have, so I'll stop now. In closing I'll just say that I recommend this book without the slightest reservation. It's fantastic.

This book really saved me!
I have to say, being a bride-to-be was daunting. I was NOT a natural. Khelly's book helped me find bargains galore, unique ideas to avoid the usual ho-hum wedding experience and it really kept me from losing my cool under the pressure of the big day. Her knowledge of the downtown area alone was invaluable and worth the cost of the book. It's really well organized too, which is great, since I'm not.
I would strongly recommend this book to anyone facing the daunting task of planning the "First Day of the Rest of Your Life!"
Great Job, Khelly!

The ONLY wedding book you need!
I just planned my wedding in 3 months on a limited budget thanks to "Khelly's Book of Answers"! When I got engaged I received 9 books for the Bride-to-be and Khelly's was the only one that I found to be really useful. She is a young woman who just went through planning her own wedding, not some older man giving old, tired party ideas or etiquette tips. Her insight is from a fresh new perspective. Khelly's book is in a notebook binder which is so helpful! You can organize all of your wedding notes and magazine cut-outs and phone numbers in the binder and take it with you everywhere! Most women don't even know where to begin when they get engaged...one night with Khelly's book and you will know exactly what you need to do. She has great ideas for "beating the system" and I really believe they would be useful to anyone, not just people in Southern California. In fact, I'm buying one as an engagement gift for my friend in Boston! If you or someone you know is planning a wedding, you must have this book! Don't get taken advantage of! Let Khelly teach you how to be smart with wedding vendors!

A Little book of Forgiveness
Published in Paperback by Fearless Books (20 March, 1999)
Author: D. Patrick Miller
Average review score:

Everyone has someone to forgive. Read this book!
I have the original edition published in 1994 and was checking Amazon to see if it was still [around]. Boy am I thrilled to see it has been updated ... As a alcohol and drug abuse counselor in the past and now an Expat coach and work/life balance coach...I find this is one of the books that I consistently refer my clients to read. Everyone I have shared it with has found healing, growth and positive insight.

The concepts are simple, direct, and understandable. It helps you see areas in yourself and others that you may not even have realized you were harboring resentments or needed to forgive.

Read it...but also grasp it...practice it your life and you will find more joy.

Forgiveness is the key to happiness.
We all need to forgive others for having hurt us, whether intentionally or unintentionally. But to do that we must also learn to forgive ourselves for the wrongs we have committed against God and our neighbor. Miller writes succinctly about the selfishness of not forgiving yourself and releasing yourself to do good in the world. It is arrogance to hold a grievance against yourself or others. Drawing from 'A Course in Miracles', Miller expands on the them that every thought is either a loving response or a cry for help. Everyone makes mistakes and everyone needs forgiveness. God gives us the gift of forgiveness and we should likewise extend this (seemingly undeserved) favor to everyone including our own selves. This is one of the books I give in my Christian counseling practice. I give it my highest recommendation. Everyone should read this 'little' book.

Also recommended: Choosing Happiness (Veronica Ray), The Road Less Traveled (M. Scott Peck), A Course in Miracles (anonymous), The Practical Guide to Real Christianity (S. Theriault)

This book offers both exposure to this concept and methods.
Forgiveness is a concept I never grasped. I always simply dismissed it as a religious process available to a particular denomination. I remained burdened due to this limited view. When I was given this book,THE LITTLE BOOK OF FORGIVENESS, many things happened. A clarity of thought came first, an acceptable course of action next, and release at last

Living and Working in the Sea
Published in Textbook Binding by Van Nostrand Reinhold (July, 1984)
Authors: James Woodell Miller and Ian Loblick
Average review score:

A Reference for Day-to-Day Aspects of Undersea Research
If you have ever dreamed of inhabiting the sea like I have, then the book, 'Living and Working in the Sea' is for you. The authors have provided a concise and comprehensive account of man's attempt to penetrate the ocean, their attempt to remain there indefinitely through the use of saturation diving techniques and provide the reader with the highlights of the many saturation programs, which have utilized seafloor habitats throughout the world. This book is recommended for all those individuals who have participated as aquanauts in a saturation diving program or who are intending to become an aquanaut in the near future. I still use this book today as a reference tool for the day-to-day aspects of supporting an undersea research laboratory and it is required reading for all our saturation diving staff technicians.

Underwater Habitation
Authored by two of the most experienced and learned contributors to the science of underwater habitation, this book is an absolute must read for anyone interested in saturation diving and undersea living. It chronicles the history and the construction of all the sea floor habitats ever used. If you want to build one, read it.

Seafloor Habitation
Although divers first viewed the undersea world over 5000 years ago, it is less than 40 years since man first lived on the seafloor. Since 1962, over 65 seafloor habitats have been developed in 17 nations around the world. An amazing variety of enclosures were used including inflated baloons, cement mixers and elaborate homes.

The successes and failures of these ingenious attempts to colonize the seafloor and the technology that made it all possible is the subject of this fascinating book. Both authors are experienced aquanauts having lived on the seafloor for over a month. The book reflects their first-hand experience as well as their personal knowledge of many colonization efforts throughout the world.

This book is the only source available that tells the story of seafloor habitation from the very first spartan steel chamber, to the world's first underwater lodge, an underwater classroom that has served thousands of young students, and gives you a look at the possibility of future undersea resorts, theme parks, villages and cities.

Be a Dreammaker
This book is the most inspiring peice of literature I have ever read!...Great for all ages. teaches you to never take anything for granted! Great stories about Dreammakers, Dreambreakers, and Dreams.

I had the most belly laughs & tears i've had in years.
The picture on the cover, front and back are worth the price! And how about the chapter headings?----Like "The best way to get a healthy body is to marry one." or "My idea of exercise is a good brisk sit." Dan takes you thru a lifetime of challenges most of you never dreamed of and makes us aware of our attitudes toward others. I was given my first copy--- could not put it down til finished. Bought 3 more to give to my " children". {then they told me how to buy it on Amazon!!!!! Etta ettabil@aol.com

He's the can-do man who will inspire you!
I helped Dan Miller write this story of his life. Our coming together on this project touched my life in a truly positive way. Dan is a down-to-earth, caring person with an amazing story of pulling God's best out of any adversity. Anybody else would have let polio cripple their spirit as well as their life. Not Dan. As a much-in-demand motivational speaker, he inspires thousands to go beyond the mediocre and to not let their past drag them down. I've shared his book with many people who've endured difficult circumstances, and they've affirmed that Dan's faith-grounded approach to life really makes the difference.

Love Walked Among Us: The Personal Side of Jesus
Published in Paperback by Navpress (06 August, 2001)
Author: Paul E. Miller
Average review score:

A Must Read
This is an incredible book that not only reaches to the depths of the heart by capturing the amazing, incomprehensible love of Jesus, but at the same time convicts us of how short we fall in loving others. This is one of the most impactful books I've read about the reality of Jesus' love for us and how that can be applied as we desire to love others. Paul Miller's transparency and real life examples result in an ease of reading many books lack. This is a must read! Expect to be transformed!

The Heart of Compassion!
Wow! Throughout this entire book you'll find yourself walking in other people's shoes, feeling what they feel. Understanding what true compassion really is. Knowing what real Love is! All my life I felt I had an understanding of what it meant for Jesus to bear the cross for me. But, after reading "Love Walked Among Us" it has taken on a whole new meaning for me. Understanding that He was just a man, a physical human being I was able to put myself in His shoes. I could feel the mental pain of being betrayed, abandoned, alone. This alone would be enough to give up. But then, to have to endure such physical pain is unbearable! This book will help you see the outcast at work, feel compassion for him/her and reach out with the love of Jesus.

Love Walked Among Us
As an acquiring editor I have the privilege of reading many book proposals and manuscripts, as well as published books. As I read through this one, I found myself stopping to pray, stopping to repent, and stopping to cry. I found myself so convicted by the example Christ gave us of the godly way to love!

Paul's journey to understand how Jesus loved others is well written with a vulnerability and transparency that lets you know it's okay to be on the path of learning to know and understand God. It's an eternal path, and one that doesn't come easily. We have to set aside all of our preconceived notions about others, "crucify" the very voices of our inner being that cry out to be right, to be loved the most, not to be inconvenienced or misunderstood, and instead to love as Jesus loved.

If you want a good read and some insight into Jesus, you will want to read this book!

Mammoth: The Sierra Legend
Published in Hardcover by Mountain Sports Press (November, 2002)
Authors: Martin Forstenzer and Warren Miller
Average review score:

Great Book
This book is awesome! The pictures are excelent and the information is great. Nice to know what Mammoth used to look like before it became the famous place that it is today.

Love skiing? Love the Sierra? Love Mammoth? This is for you.
Anyone who likes skiing will love this book. Forstenzer's familiarity with the Sierra makes it one that won't just sit around on the coffee table. He writes engagingly and tells great stories about the early days of skiing in Mammoth and its culture, how the ski area was built and some of the people involved. The photographs are astonishing and well worth the price alone, but in combination with the writing Forstenzer lets us glimpse what made Mammoth Mountain the great ski resort it has become. This is a terrific book about past and present skiing days at Mammoth. Like most any ski item associated with Warren Miller - breathtaking!

Artwork for your coffee table
Absolutely the most beautiful collection of photos of Mammoth and the surrounding area can be found in this book! It provides a wonderful history and insight into the creation and life of this skiing Mecca. This is a must have for any Mammoth lover!

Managerial Dilemmas : The Political Economy of Hierarchy
Published in Hardcover by Cambridge University Press (February, 1992)
Author: Gary J. Miller
Average review score:

the political science of the firm
Miller's book is one of the most intelligent pieces of work I've ever read. It's insightfully written in clear and simple English and cuts right to the heart of the problem that is too often unasked: If markets are so good, why are most firms hierarchies and not markets? Coase's landmark piece from 1937 answered with high transaction costs which make market contracting too costly to arrive at a solution. While Coase set the path for what was to become the new institutional economics, other scholars (including Coase himself) needed to fill in the pieces of the puzzle.

Miller's book goes "inside" and shows us precisely how the various dilemmas manifest in the real world with a wealth of very simple models and real-world examples. Along the way, Miller manages to answer a number of important questions about dictatorship, democracy, and the various points in between which go well beyond just the theory of the firm. Thus, while Managerial Dilemmas is written about business managers, the implications reach far into other territory.

Do you like logical constucts? Can you follow one?
If YES is your answer and if you are interested in economics and you were wondering why some firms fail and others succeed, read this book.

I am surprised that it has not gotten more publicity. And then may be it is natural that its message is kept under wraps: it tells us, among others, that managers have a vested interest to cheat and that many become little, and not so little dictators in their empires, with limited risk that the free market can discipline them... naturally, if they play it "right". What industry captains like this little dirty secret to be aired? And the book does not toot the horn of the socialist agenda either. So no vested interest to promote it from that side either.

Briefly, a serious intellectual book: thus, few people are truly interested in our increasingly undereducated society. Are you the exception?

Sensible economics?
For the first time in my life I read a book by an economist and liked it! There are no islands that produce only guns and butter in here and the individual is not a point in a graph. Miller looks at the biggest dilemma facing organizational theorists: What is the best form of organizational management? With simple explanations, interesting real life examples, and no complicated math, Miller illustrates how a market environment withing an organization can spell disaster and how a hierarchy is no better solution. The self-serving actions of both managers and employees can leave the firm in a downward spiral. Finally, he proposes and demonstrates how an atmosphere of trust, cooperation and commitment can lead to happy employees, satisfied managers, and richer shareholders and actually makes it sound credible and feasible! Whether it's for the economics novice or the disciplined researcher, this book is truly an inspiring achievement
